Pharmacists at Vidant Medical Center are committed to the safe and effective use of medications through maximizing drug distribution and optimizing drug therapy outcomes; educating patients, providers, and ourselves on best practices; and fully integrating pharmacists into the continuum of care. Pharmacists report directly to a designated Pharmacy Supervisor based on area of practice.
This position will provide coverage for the decentralized medicine and critical care clinical pharmacy teams, staffing both intensive care units and medical floors. Medicine and Critical Care pharmacists at ECU Health Medical Center provide both clinical and distributive services to patients. Responsibilities include complete pharmaceutical care including participation on daily rounds (service- and unit-based models), pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug optimization, prevention of adverse events, cost-effective medication use, critical assessment of all new medication orders, order verification, medical emergency response, provision of drug information to physicians and nurses, and education and assessment of learners – medical/pharmacy students and residents. Participation in departmental activities, teaching opportunities, and professional development are also required.
College degree plus other schooling. B.S. or PharmD in pharmacy is required.
Must be Licensed in North Carolina prior to start date or within 30 days of hire.
Hospital experience is preferred.
Maintains active NC pharmacy license and provides proof of renewal prior to December 31 annually.
BLS is required within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
