Position Summary

The Lead Laboratory Technician functions as a generalist staff technologist (technician) under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, overseeing section efficiency in workflow processing and testing protocols. You will be the technical resource in their area of expertise, providing staff orientation, training, competency evaluation and coordination of activities to bring about change in the pursuit of improved operations for their respective departments. Must develop and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with all hospital departments, employees and medical staff. 

Minimum Requirements

• High school plus 2 years of formal education is required

• Must have graduated from an accredited medical laboratory technician or technology program

• 3 to 5 years experience is required

• Successful completion of MT(ASCP), MLT(ASCP) or HEW examination with a minimum of four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience in the following disciplines:  Hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, chemistry, special chemistry, microbiology and phlebotomy 

• Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred but not required

Other Information

• Full-Time (40 hours a week)

• Monday - Friday (8:30 am - 5:30 pm)

• Every 3rd Saturday rotation (8 am to noon)
