Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 117-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home. Our partnership with Vidant Health enhances our wide range of services and improves the quality of care our patients receive. More than 20 specialties are represented by Vidant Edgecombe Hospital's medical staff, assuring the people of Edgecombe county that almost all their health needs can be met right here at home. In addition to acute care, our services include rehabilitation, oncology and outpatient clinics.

Minimum Requirements

Medical Lab Technician Career Ladder:

Level One: 

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US Military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
  • OR currently enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS) and have completed the specific laboratory rotation (Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services)

 

Level Two:  

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US Military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
  • 1-2 years of experiences in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency preferred

 

Level Three:

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US Military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
  • 4 years of experiences in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency

 

Level Four:

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US Military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
  • 7 years of experiences in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency

Other Information

  • Full-Time (40 hours a week)
  • Nights (10 hour shifts)
  • Monday - Thursday (8:30 pm - 7 am)
  • Required to work occasional weekends and holidays for coverage
