Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Position Summary
As a member of a team of health care professionals, the Respiratory Care Practitioner(RCP) evaluates, treats and manages therapeutic respiratory care of patients of all ages as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Respiratory Care Practitioners demonstrate flexibility, knowledge and dedication in all patient care and safety matters. In addition to performing respiratory care procedures, the RCP is involved in clinical decision making, goal directed respiratory care planning and patient education. The RCP is required to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources, document in the electronic medical record and are responsible for billing for services provided.
Minimum Requirements
Graduated from an accredited program with an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care or Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Active licensure with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board upon hire and is maintained yearly
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registry Eligible with RRT credential obtained within 6 months of graduation
Advance Life Support Certification (ACLS), if not current at time of hire, must complete within first 12 months of Employment and maintained
Active status with NBRC recommended
