Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

  • Responsible for the supervision of the 2nd staff of the Health Information Services division of Vidant Health.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the 2nd staff that includes Imaging Services, Analysts, and Release of Information and Duplicate Number staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Operations and Director.
  • Serves as back-up for the Manager of HIMS Service Lines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or other health related field required
  • Current Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
  • One to three years, including 1-2 years in related HIMS experience required
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a related health field may be substituted in place of AHIMA certification

Other Information

  • Hours will be 2:30PM - 11:00PM
  • Monday to Friday 
  • Rotate call - weekends/holidays
