The Children’s Transport Team provides critical care air and ground service to Maynard Children’s Hospital for neonatal and pediatric patients less than six years of age. Based at Vidant Medical Center, home of the region’s only Level-1 Trauma center and the regional Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Transport flight nurse provides ICU level care during transport to Maynard Children’s Hospital from referring facilities. As a part of the CAMTS (the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) Vidant Medical Transport service, safety and quality care delivery is a top-priority. The Maynard Children’s Hospital, with 121 inpatient beds and a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, provides the regions only Children’s Hospital. With one of the largest NICU’s in the state and robust pediatric sub-specialty services, the Children’s Transport flight nurse provides an essential service in ensuring safe patient transport from other facilities to Maynard Children’s Hospital for those patient’s needing tertiary level services.
