Responsible for the day-to-day customer service activities for specialty pharmacy patients and new referrals. Responsible for inbound and outbound patient phone calls, prescription refill reminders calls, documentation of patient interactions, facilitation of patient to a pharmacist for consultations, completion of patient onboarding functions, ensuring effective coordination of care, and assisting with patient needs and requests. Also, manages patient financial assistance needs. Responsible for ensuring accurate insurance benefits investigation is completed and documented. Gather all necessary information to bill claims in appropriate order in the event of multiple payers. Ability to determine appropriate billing process--medical, pharmacy, other. Review claims and patient accounts to determine claims integrity. Identify available financial assistance options and assist patients with gaining financial support. Proactively communicate with clinical staff and co-workers regarding medication coverage status. Provides excellent customer service during all interactions.
High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher
Three years related experience
Experience in and working knowledge of the healthcare industry.
Ability to work with and protect extremely confidential patient and employee information.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Attention to detail with emphasis on strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Self-initiative; ability to work independently.
Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside vendors and clients.
Specialty pharmacy experience highly preferred.
