Position Summary

The Diagnostic Medical Physicist is a professional position that will be utilized to extend the Radiation Safety and Diagnostic Medical Physics capabilities of the Radiation Safety Office at Vidant Medical Center as well as Vidant Health facilities and contracts.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Medical Physics, Health Physics or Radiological Physics, or closely-related field.
  • Board Certification Eligible by the American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics.  Eligible for registration with the NCDHHS in the following classes:  Class III, IV, V, and IX; must be obtained within three months of hire.
  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in Medical Physics is required.  Specific clinical experience in Diagnostic Radiology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, MRI, Ultrasound and Hospital Radiation Safety is required.
  • Gain and maintain Unescorted Access of 10 CFR 37 Nuclear Security areas within the probationary period (inclusive of a satisfactory FBI Background Check) and as necessary thereafter as required by the North Carolina and Federal regulations
