Position Summary
Under the Clinical Supervision of the Medical Director of Sleep Lab and the overall supervision of the Manager, the Polysomnographic Technologist (PSGT) provides safe, expedient, cost-effective Sleep Lab services. As a member of a team of health care professionals, a PSGT performs sleep testing procedures and record keeping functions as assigned. Polysomnographic Technologists behave in a manner consistent with the standards and ethics of all health care professionals. In addition to performing sleep lab duties, PSGTs are involved in clinical decision-making (such as patient assessment, treatment selection and reassessment of treatment efficacy, and patient education. PSGTs are required to document about the patient's activity during sleep study. Each PSGT is responsible for billing the patient correctly for the services provided.
