Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Vidant Medical Center provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. Position Summary

This position collects extensive data on all new cancer patients seen at Vidant Health Hospitals, as required by state law and according to regulations established by various state and national registries. Case abstracting and registry duties are completed in adherence to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Standards for Accredited Cancer Programs.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school plus 2 years of formal education/experience is required.
  • Associates in a health related field or completion of an NCRA cancer registry program is required.
  • CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) is preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years experience required in casefinding, abstracting, completing treatment updates, and follow up.
  • Electronic Medical record usage experience is required.

Other Information

  • Full time with benefits
  • Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • Training may last up to 6 months
