The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse (RN) that is masters prepared in Nursing and demonstrates expertise in a specific clinical area or for a specific patient population.
This advanced practice RN strives to meet the needs of patient, family, health care system and the larger society through coordinated efforts with interdisciplinary providers.
Functioning as a leader, innovator and change agent in application of evidenced based practice and quality patient care is a priority.
The CNS provides advanced clinical care and leadership for a selected patient population and/or for a specific clinical area along the continuum of care. Working with the interdisciplinary team in assessing needs, implementing strategies and evaluating outcomes are all activities expected of the CNS in order to contribute to the development, maintenance and change of the health care delivery system.
This individual should provide consultation and educational services in the area of specialty to health care providers, patient and/or significant others.
Fostering communication and teamwork are key to this role. In addition, this advanced practice RN leads in stimulating research growth and utilization of evidenced base practice.
The CNS makes a contribution to advancing the science of nursing practice through research, education, publications, and presentations.
Master of Science in Nursing-Concentration in Clinical Nurse Specialist.
A Master of Science in Nursing within the Clinical Nurse Specialist Concentration is required.
The clinical Nurse Specialist concentration may be substituted for an alternate Master of Science in Nursing when accompanied by Clinical Nurse Specialist title recognition by the NC Board of Nursing.
More than 5 years but less than 6 years experience as a Staff Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager needed.
Preferred - Critical Care Experience.
Full-Time position - 40 hours per week.
On-site - Monday - Friday - 8am-5pm.
