Vidant North Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited, 204-bed acute bed facility where residents of Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in North Carolina and Mecklenburg, Brunswick and Greensville in Virginia receive a wide range of health services close to home. Vidant North Hospital’s team of more than 60 providers and 850 employees represent most medical specialties. In addition to 24-hour emergency care, we also offer intensive care, medical, surgical, orthopedic, behavioral health, rehabilitation and therapy services; a cardiac catheterization lab; and outpatient clinics. Our partnership with Vidant Health connects the communities we serve with broader access to various levels of care, enabling us to further customize treatment based on a patient’s unique needs.
A high school graduate that works under supervision of the Laboratory Manager or Designee, cleans laboratory equipment, gowns as needed, restocks departments, put up supplies, assists in clerical duties, and is primarily responsible for phlebotomy duties including: blood cultures, blood samples, and blood gases.
A. High school diploma or equivalent
A. Must be substance abuse free.
B. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
C. Must have vision adequate for writing, typing, viewing computer screen and to distinguish colors.
D. Must be able to hear and understand conversations in a moderate tone, including telephone communication.
E. Must be able walk, bend and lift up to fifty pounds.
F. Must be able to drive a care and have a valid NC driver's license or transportation to and from work to be on time.
G. Must be able to work in an environment with unpleasant or chemical odors without adverse reaction.
H. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
A. Must have the ability to understand instructions, reason and make judgments.
B. Must have the ability to understand the meaning of words, associate and use them effectively.
C. Must have ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately
D. Must have ability to coordinate eyes and hand to fingers rapidly and skillfully
E. Must be skilled at working and communicating effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy.
F. Must be able to work effectively under pressure
G. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable changes in work load or priority
H. Must be able to set priorities
A. Will require at least 8 hour shifts and 72-80 hours per pay period as standard.
B. Will be exposed to contagious diseases
C. Will require standing for long periods of time
D. Will be exposed to high noise levels
E. Will work under stress at times
