Position Summary
Under the Clinical Supervision of the Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory and the overall supervision of the Manager, Lead Techs, Medical Technologists, and Medical Laboratory Technicians, the Phlebotomists provides safe, expedient, cost-effective blood collection services. As a member of a team of health care professionals, a Phlebotomist evaluates, best site collections from patients of all ages in a wide variety of clinical settings. Phlebotomists behave in a manner consistent with the standards and ethics of all health care professionals. In addition to performing phlebotomy procedures, Phlebotomists are involved in clinical decision-making such as recognizing patient status changes, selection of best possible site for blood collections, and assessment of patients that have a need for central line placement to obtain a sample. Phlebotomists are required to document in the electronic medical record accurate, complete, orders when received from outpatients.
