The OR Surgical Technologist will at all times function under the direct supervision of a RN and will be responsible for scrubbing and assisting on all types of surgical cases and other daily job related activities. Attendance at hospital education programs related to individual growth is expected. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, with call rotation basis, during the week and on weekends as scheduled by the OR Assistant Manager or Nurse Manager. The Surgical Technologist is directly responsible for performing according to policy and procedure with strict adherence to aseptic technique, making all advances necessary preparations to insure the needs of the surgical team and patient are met. Employee may cross train to other areas to include central sterile reprocessing, procedure scheduling, charge entry, and supply management.
The Surgical Technologist position requires a high school education and graduation from an accredited surgical technician's course or one year on the job experience.
He or She must also possess considerable knowledge in modern surgical and technical skills specific to patient population.
BCLS is required.
Certification in Surgical Technology is a plus.
Employee must be efficient in responding to the management of emergency situations under the direction of the RN and physician.
