Position Summary
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor utilizes their expertise to support and counsel individuals through crisis intervention, brief solutions-focused counseling, referrals to other services, and ongoing follow-up for Vidant team members and their eligible family members.
In addition to providing individual, couples and family counseling, the EAP counselor provides orientations and well-being workshops to team members and their eligible family members. The counselor provides assessment, short-term counseling and referral via face-to-face and/or virtually. The EAP counselor also provides management and leadership consultation and coaching, and other EAP organizational interventions on site and as needed throughout the Vidant Health system. The counselor is a trusted and compassionate resource for Vidant Health leadership and team members throughout the organization.
This position requires some travel throughout the Vidant Health region as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree, Licensed Major: Psychology, Social Work, MFT or other mental health field
LMFT, LCMHC, LCSW, or PhD licensure required.
3-5 years’ experience in short-term counseling or therapy experience in a clinical mental health
Regional travel to other Vidant Health entities
Rotating on call coverage
Experience providing counseling to children and couples
Experience developing and presenting workshops on well-being topics
Experience providing EAP Critical Incident Response services
Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office
Experience using an electronic medical record
Preferred Requirements
Experience providing EAP services
Experience providing substance abuse assessment and counseling
Knowledge of community mental health resources
Basic knowledge of human resources practices and policies
CEAP preferred
