Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

The Project Manager II is responsible for the management of key Information Services projects throughout the project life cycle by following Vidant Health's Project Management Framework and system development lifecycle methodology. Management of medium to large Information Services projects including utilizing framework and methodology guidelines to deliver projects on schedule and on budget while meeting the needs of the project sponsors. Projects may be cross-functional in nature and may require participation across multiple business units

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages own work efforts and effectively guides work of others
  • Demonstrates ability to manage small to medium scope projects following standards and procedures set by PMO methodology. Takes responsibility to make things happen and get things done for successful project delivery

  • Able to provide leadership for team in manager's absence

  • Understands collective organizational needs
  • Demonstrates commitment to learning by actively participating in department meetings and organizational forums, improvement efforts, training opportunities and career development goals
  • Involved in external professional associations (user groups, etc) and is sought out by peers for subject matter expertise
  • Good understanding of health care industry preferred

  • Understands the risks and consequences that errors could have on patient care and/or organizational finances and establishes a plan with team to mitigate risk

Minimum Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years project management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare practices and culture preferred
  • PMP Certification strongly preferred
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
