Information Services at Vidant Health
Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.
The Data Visualization Designer is responsible for designing elegant user interfaces, and setting, and ensuring adoption of Vidant's analytic product design guidelines and standards. The Designer will develop guidelines and processes so that data is visualized in a technically elegant way, in a way that meets user and business needs, and tells a cohesive, effective, and aesthetically pleasing story across various charts and visualization methods.
The Data Visualization Designer will serve as Vidant's resident data visualization expert to evolve the look and feel of the Tableau product platform, and other visualization tools, to both delight customers and achieve business objectives. The Designer will apply both strategy and craftsmanship to their design work, helping to ensure the analytic product experience is intentional and cohesive.
The Data Visualization Designer will set standards, coach and mentor others, as well as, lead data visualization requirements and goal conversations, create user interface whiteboards, and build the user interface for analytics applications. The Designer will work collaboratively with analytic product managers and analysts throughout the planning and development lifecycle.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, fine arts: Studio Art, Graphic or Visual Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent related field required
Minimum three (3) years of hands on experience developing Tableau dashboards using complex relational and multi-dimensional data sources and using features in the latest versions preferred
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a visual designer, interaction designer, user interface designer, or similar preferred
Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and passion about data, visualization and solving business problems
Story teller capable of delivering creative design and interactive data visualizations
Fluency in visual design principles at both a conceptual level and a practical level
Experience leveraging, and contributing to, design systems and guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others in the use of design standards
Passion for proactively learning, exploring, and sharing your knowledge and discoveries
Experience with complex data structures, including the ability to create, modify, and innovate around complex data models; experience with healthcare data a plus
Familiar with at least one programming language and able to apply logic-based approaches to new challenges
Demonstrate project management skills using agile methodology including ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of high-profile projects
Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Tableau certification required
Able to balance innovation with adherence to pre-determined standards and guidelines including data privacy and security
Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with user experience and developers for implementation of designs
