The Director, Enterprise Data and Analytics develops the vision, strategy and provides operational leadership for Vidant Health's data and analytics program. As a highly visible and impactful role reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director fosters collaborative partnerships with technology, clinical and business teams across the organization to understand and deliver on the broad information needs necessary to support Vidant's strategic objectives and operational imperatives. Through routine, direct engagement with senior clinical and administrative leadership, the Director's team supports the development of actionable insights and provides a critical linkage between the strategies of both analytics and the organization to achieve breakthrough performance for all Vidant Health stakeholders.
The Director develops and drives the roadmap for the data and analytics program with the overarching goal to transform and modernize Vidant's analytics strategy, and to provide solutions that empower stakeholders to quickly answer questions and gain insights. The roadmap will include plans for reporting and visualizations as well as the appropriate underlying data architecture, governance, analytics, and technologies.
The Director is accountable for leading the continuous development of advanced analytics capabilities, service delivery, and uncovering drivers of business and clinical operations and performance. The Director strives to identify opportunities to eliminate duplication of effort and streamline the way our stakeholders consume data and information in a way that establishes a new framework of data governance standards for the organization.
The Director leverages their experience to lead multiple teams of highly skilled analytics managers and expert analysts, developers, and business analysts. Under the Director's leadership drives improvements, helps to translate business challenges into accessible, value-added recommendations in support of strategic and tactical initiatives across the enterprise. The team is also a critical contributor to the ongoing improvement of the organization's data assets, driven by strategy and business needs, and designed to ensure data and reporting consistency throughout the organization.
The Enterprise Data Analytics Director strengthens the impact of, and provides recommendations on, business information that will need to be available and shared consistently across the organization through the identification, definition and analysis of how information assets aid strategies and business outcomes while protecting privacy and confidentiality of our data.
Bachelor's Degree or higher is required. Major in data science/analytics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, business, or social science with heavy quantitative analysis, or related field strongly desired.
Minimum of five (5) year's experience in an analytics leadership/management role with a strong operational background and proven track record of accomplishments in advanced analytics, change management and innovation within a large, complex, multi-location organization.
Demonstrates a strong passion for a data driven culture and embraces a federated model for enterprise analytics.
Seasoned professional with at least three years health care experience that has a deep understanding of health care operations as well as the current business issues and trends influencing health care providers.
Solid technology leadership skills, including high-level vision and understanding of data strategy.
Exceptional communication skills, with ability to interact, deliver compelling messages, and influence executives, stakeholders as well as internal and external customers.
Familiarity with data governance and security/privacy compliance including clinical research. Understanding of HIPAA and other applicable statutes or regulations concerning patient privacy and appropriate use and sharing of healthcare data.
Demonstrated success building, leading, developing, and retaining teams of highly skilled, multi-disciplinary, advanced analytics staff with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds.
Strong collaborator and relationship builder.
Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and follow-through.
Demonstrated expertise in information technology, Big Data structures, and application of advanced analytics for business and clinical analysis, operations analysis, and business process modeling.
Experience with data access tools such as SQL, statistical analysis/modeling tools including SAS, R, Python, or similar applications, data visualization tools such as Tableau, and data quality and data governance tools such as Informatica. Demonstrated ability to mentor staff in the application of these tools so they can independently solve real-world problems and deliver findings.
Familiarity with data lake technology, data warehouse, and information platforms.
Experience with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments.
Experience building data governance frameworks and maturing an enterprise-wide data governance program.
Strong ability to build credibility, prioritize deliverables, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly when conveying complex topics to diverse audiences.
Proven transformation skills that include the ability to consistently execute at a high level and drive positive change in the organization.
Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers.
Experience using agile development methodologies.
Practical use of design thinking, innovation or experimentation strategies designed to improve utilization and outcome of analytics products.
