Vidant North Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited, 204-bed acute bed facility where residents of Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in North Carolina and Mecklenburg, Brunswick and Greensville in Virginia receive a wide range of health services close to home. Vidant North Hospital’s team of more than 60 providers and 850 employees represent most medical specialties. In addition to 24-hour emergency care, we also offer intensive care, medical, surgical, orthopedic, behavioral health, rehabilitation and therapy services; a cardiac catheterization lab; and outpatient clinics. Position Summary

The ED Paramedic functions as a member of the Emergency Department team and is participates in the care of ill and injured patients. Responsibilities include patient care, incorporating stabilization, and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The ED Paramedic functions as part of a ED team and shares responsibility for the team's conduct. The ED Paramedic fulfills education skill requirements as established by the Halifax Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Graduate from an approved Paramedic program is required
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support, Current certification by the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic is required
