Position Summary
We are currently accepting applications for a pharmacist to join our decentralized clinical services team in oncology. This position would work primarily 8 hour shifts, a mixture of 1st and 2nd and every 3rd weekend.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Oncology pharmacists at VMC provide both clinical and distributive services to patients. Responsibilities include complete pharmaceutical care including participation on daily rounds (service and unit-based models), pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug optimization, prevention of adverse events, cost-effective medication use, critical assessment of all new medication orders, order verification, provision of drug information to physicians and nurses, and education and assessment of learners – medical/pharmacy students and residents. Participation in departmental activities, teaching opportunities, and professional development are also required.
This pharmacist would focus on inpatient chemotherapy and inpatient regimens. This pharmacist would need a strong background in internal medicine and additionally a strong background in oncology. Many of the inpatients that would be treated would not only have cancer but also other acute issues.

Minimum Requirements
Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school, must possess a B.S. or PharmD in Pharmacy
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire date
Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in NC within 30 days of hire date
PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 residency
Oncology residency/experience
Hospital experience
