We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Vidant Medical Center provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. Position Summary
40-bed flex unit – taking majority Intermediate Level Patients. (80% trauma, 20% transplant, renal and pancreatic)
The population consists of multiple types of general surgery patients and includes the following:
Multisystem and isolated trauma
Traumatic Head Injuries
Bone Fractures
Kidney and Pancreas Transplants
Complex Wounds
Spinal Injuries
Cardiac Arrythmias
Respiratory insufficiency, including ventilator patients
Complex fluid and medication management
Single and/or Multisystem injury complications
Complex wounds
Transplant Patients
Services also include patient education related to surgical procedures, disease processes, diagnostic procedures and trach care.
Work collaboratively with other disciplines such as Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Unit based Case Management and Social Work.
RN ratio for Intermediate beds 1:4
Flexible scheduling options with self-scheduling
Minimum Requirements
Associate Degree is required.
Bachelors Degree is preferred.
0 - 2 years experience is required.
Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required.
Basic Life Support is required.
