So many opportunities to do great things.

Providing IT services and infrastructure for a system that delivers health care to 1.4 million people is a huge job, but with the right employees, we’re up for the challenge. We have a state-of-the-art data center, and all Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform – including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Our ambulatory and inpatient teams are responsible for creating, maintaining, implementing and supporting the electronic health record in clinic practices, non-acute care area and in hospitals. All of our IT teams support and consult with each other on projects – creating and designing test cases and scripts to meet the functional requirements of a new feature plus planning and monitoring regression and integration testing. We work collaboratively with business partners and vendors. Day-to-day operations include preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure infrastructure and application stability.

Why Vidant Health?

Our goal is to be the best at what we do. And every day, we are making good things happen. We were the first health care organization to implement EMC’s xTremeIO in an EPIC production environment. We are moving to the new ‘Converged Infrastructure’ using VCE vBlocks, and we are moving to a virtual desktop infrastructure. The list goes on and on. We are also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition. At Vidant Health, we are focused on both technology and people. Training staff is a top priority. We have invested, and will continue to invest, in our teams, providing them with all of the necessary training on all of our new technologies – as well as related technologies so that we can continue to look for better solutions.

Working for Vidant Health means being part of a reputable, well-established system of care—but one that’s growing fast.

While other health care systems are facing challenges, we’re expanding. Like our new 78,000-square-foot children’s hospital at Vidant Medical Center. Or the $200 million cancer center that opened in March 2018. And that’s just the beginning.
