TARBORO, NC – Laura Verde, a board certified cardiologist, and Amanda Futrell, a physician assistant, joined Vidant Multispecialty Clinic – Tarboro, located at 101 Clinic Dr., on Jan. 9 and 23, respectively. 

Verde, fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, earned a Doctor of Medicine from Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas de Santos in Santos, Brazil. Her areas of interest include heart disease, congestive heart failure and cardiac imaging. “Having trained at East Carolina University and Vidant Medical Center, joining this practice will feel like coming home. Eastern North Carolinians are kind and warm people, it will truly be my pleasure to serve this community once again,” said Verde. 


Futrell, who will be working alongside Verde, earned a Master of Science in physician assistant studies from Elon University. Her areas of interest include heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiac rehab/prescription, diabetes, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia treatment and management. “I am excited to join the Vidant family because they have provided me with an opportunity to practice cardiology, which has been a goal of mine,” said Futrell. “I am looking forward to treating the patients of eastern North Carolina.”
