Pharmacy Residency Programs

Thank you for your interest in our pharmacy residency programs. Vidant Medical Center has a 25-year history of training pharmacy residents for careers in hospital pharmacy, academia and research. We offer a PGY1 pharmacy residency and a PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency program. Our programs are proud to offer residents a diverse and flexible pharmacy training experience with rotations in a variety of clinical areas.

The institution is a 900-bed academic medical center including a Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU and a cadre of medical subspecialties. The pharmacy department provides decentralized clinical services to nearly all inpatients and enjoys great relationships with the medical staff. We work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers and nursing throughout the institution to provide care to patients with a diverse range of clinical problems.

Our department and institution maximizes the use of technology to deliver leading edge clinical care. This includes EPIC to provide CPOE, clinical decision support, MyChart and telemedicine initiatives. Additionally, we are working with our regional partners to standardize practices that enable us to provide high quality and cost-effective care throughout our region to support growth and sustainability.

The department has strong relationships with the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, offering approximately 100 IPPE and APPE rotation months per year. Our residents have student precepting and teaching responsibilities on many rotations throughout their year.

We hope that the information provided here will give you a sense of the many opportunities we have to offer at Vidant Medical Center.
