Our Pharmacy Family
The Pharmacy Department at Vidant Medical Center is made up of over 200 employees who are committed to providing excellent patient care by assuming ownership of the medication use process. By collaborating with our healthcare colleagues, we strive to promote optimal, safe and cost-effective medication use that will produce positive patient care outcomes. This is where your skills can serve the medication needs of over 900 patients at Vidant Medical Center. That’s quite a responsibility. It’s something we don’t take lightly.
In order to meet the needs of our growing system, the Department of Pharmacy Services at Vidant Medical Center remains progressive clinically, technologically and academically. We currently provide unit-based and service-based decentralized pharmacy services in a variety of inpatient areas including adult and pediatric medicine, cardiology, critical care and emergency medicine.
Innovative technology remains at the core of our commitment to patient safety. We continue to maximize our use of EPIC through essential elements such as CPOE, clinical decision support, MyChart and telemedicine initiatives. Additionally, we are collaborating with our regional partners to standardize practices that enable us to provide high quality and cost-effective care throughout our region to support growth and sustainability.
Academically, we enjoy healthy working relationships with the schools of pharmacy at the University of North Carolina and Campbell University and provide a wide variety of student training experiences through IPPE and APPE rotational offerings. Student precepting opportunities are available for residents on many rotations.
