Vidant Medical Center’s Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center is a source of pride for all of us. The award recognizes organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and professional practice—which means our nurses and the patient-centered environment they practice in are among the very best in the country.
The DAISY award celebrates nurses who exceed their duties to give patients and families and exceptional experience. Recipients are chosen from the heartwarming stories shared by patients, families, fellow nurses, physicians and other staff.
Patient and Family Experience
Patients and families have perspectives that are as valuable to a patient’s care as the clinical team’s training and experience. Vidant Health has embraced patient- and family-centered care and made a commitment to include patients and families in key decisions affecting not only an individual’s care but also policies, procedures, training and the entire culture of the health care system.
RN Professional and Clinical Excellence Pathway
The Professional and Clinical Excellence Pathway—also known as RISE—is a voluntary promotion system that recognizes registered nurses involved in direct patient care who demonstrate advanced knowledge, critical and systems thinking skills, and professional development.

Out of 100 Great Nurses of North Carolina, 11—that’s right, 11—were Vidant Health nurses in 2015. We think that deserves a moment of “wow.”
