 Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

The Windows Server engineering position will participate on a highly skilled Datacenter Infrastructure team with primary responsibilities focused on Epic client application delivery utilizing Citrix and Vmware platforms.   Responsibilities will include the installation, administration, and maintenance of Epic client software and other associated Microsoft Windows server based Epic services.   Daily activities will include monitoring, evaluating, and remediating any health concerns within our Citrix XenDesktop/VDI/Epic infrastructure to ensure the highest level of service for our customers.


  • Citrix administration for XenDesktop/XenApp 7 environment

  • Daily maintenance and troubleshooting Citrix farm serving thousands of users

  • Updating and deploying images within a Citrix PVS 7 environment

  • Experience with vSphere 6 or higher

  • Knowledge of Epic Windows server infrastructure deployment and management

  • Windows Server 2008/2012 and Active Directory

  • Experience installing and administering Epic web and service servers

  • Epic Client Systems Administrator Knowledge / Certification is preferred

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 2 year degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field strongly desired.

  • 1-3 certifications in related technologies desired

  • 3-5 plus years of relevant technical experience working in large scale Windows and virtualization environments.

  • 3-5 plus years of Storage Technology and a comprehensive understanding of current technologies and methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Virtualization, both hardware and OS, and Data Storage.

  • 3-5 plus years of collaborative experience with other technical teams that have shown positive results.

  • A technically strong individual with 3-5 years of knowledge of healthcare IS solutions strongly desired.
