Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

This position helps identify opportunities and deploy technical solutions that enable improvements to the delivery of patient care and business operations. Works across functional IS teams in the delivery of Windows servers, Virtualization, hardware and software solutions and services. Helps support Back-Office applications as it relates to the Windows environment.


  • Participates in the selection, management and ongoing optimization of all Windows Servers and Virtualization within Vidant Health’s Data Centers.

  • Provide, ensure, and demonstrate comprehensive recoverability of all IT services, systems, and data in support of Vidant’s disaster recovery plans, retention policies, recovery time objectives and recover point objectives.

  • Provide expert guidance and expertise on all matters related to disaster recovery and business continuity management for IT operations.

  • Actively attends training and other learning opportunities in order to stay current with technology, attending similar and or more advanced class as the rest of the team.

  • Helps define, institute and monitor performance standards, reporting metrics, and Key Performance Indicators to ensure alignment with service objectives.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to leverage existing systems and or new and emerging technologies where appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 2 year degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field desired.

  • 1-3 certifications in related technologies preferred

  • 1-3 plus years of relevant technical experience working in large scale Windows and virtualization environments.

  • 1-3 plus years of Storage Technology and a comprehensive understanding of current technologies and methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Virtualization, both hardware and OS, and Data Storage.

  • 1-3 plus years of collaborative experience with other technical teams that have shown positive results.

Preferred Requirements

  • Microsoft Active Directory support and troubleshooting skills.

  • Cisco UCS server provisioning and support

  • Experience provisioning and supporting Windows servers in a highly virtualized environment.

  • Citrix XenDesktop / XenApp infrastructure maintenance and support.

Desired Certifications (Not inclusive)

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

  • Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA)

Additional skill sets

  • Windows server patching and scheduling

  • Backup monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Powershell Scripting
