Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 117-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home.  Our partnership with Vidant Health enhances our wide range of services and improves the quality of care our patients receive. More than 20 specialties are represented by Vidant Edgecombe Hospital's medical staff, assuring the people of Edgecombe county that almost all their health needs can be met right here at home. In addition to acute care, our services include rehabilitation, oncology and outpatient clinics.

Responsibilities

The Unit Secretary is an integral part of the nursing unit being involved in both patient care and documentation of patient care. The Unit Secretary is responsible for getting patient care accomplished by noting verbal and written orders from physicians and takes whatever steps necessary to see that they are carried out.  He/She documents certain portions of the patients chart and ascertains that physicians complete as much of the records as possibe while the chart is still on the floor.

Minimum Requirements

  • The NA II / Unit Secretary must have a desire and ability to cooperate with and/or under the direction of others, possess and exhibit a sense of responsibility initiative and honesty, and dedicated to providing optimal patient care, physician assistance, and promotion of good will among coworkers.
  • The NA II must be a graduate of an approved course of study for the NA I and NA II programs and have a current listing with the NC Division of Facility Services as a NA Iand a current listing as a NA II with the NC Board of Nursing.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, certification preferred.
