Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and distribute work assignments to an assigned number of EVS Area Technicians, usually distributed by a specific area of the facility. Plot out work assignments and any other special instructions for a group of 15 to 25 Area Technicians. Assist in assembling appropriate equipment and supplies for Area Technicians, contact and converse with clients throughout the day, and ensure work is performed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure completion of all work assignments and daily tasks via MBWA procedure (Management by Walking Around). Ensure that all tasks are completed and meet or exceed Department standards of performance. Help Area Technicians with performance issues by utilizing hands-on demonstration of procedures, or by utilizing Corrective Disciplinary Action if necessary.
  • Assist in the Training Procedures for new employees by providing hands-on training. Consistently monitor training for all employees to ensure that good work habits are being developed, and that employees are comfortable with carrying out various assignments. Review and modify procedures periodically, to ensure that the highest quality work is being performed at all times.
  • Act as a coach for marginal performers in order to improve productivity and skill levels. Perform evaluation and identification of any shortcomings in staff performance. Develop an action plan to correct any deficiencies, and make recommendations to management for improving performance. Utilize Corrective Disciplinary Action when called for, and maintain all documentation.
  • Utilize the EVS BedTracking System to properly account for any and all patient beds that are requested for turn-around service (Discharge cleaning).
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Inspections in areas throughout the facility, and highlight any deficiencies to staff members so that they can be corrected and avoided in the future. Ensure that any found deficiencies are corrected before leaving the area. Make sure that all inspections are recorded and returned to either the EVS Director of Operations or the EVS Quality Control Manager.
  • Conduct 'First Contact' Patient Interviews with patients that have just arrived at the facility in order to establish expectations for the patient, and to help them communicate any concerns or complaints they may have while they are under the care of the facility. If patients have complaints, assure them that their complaints will be addressed immediately, and document all complaints for immediate follow-up.
  • Hold weekly Team Meetings with assigned Area Technician group in order to discuss weekly and daily events, changes in protocol, new information or news bulletins from either the Department or the Facility, and discuss ongoing educational topics (ex: JCAHO Huddle Information, Safety Tips, etc.). Document each meeting with an employee sign-in sheet.
  • Conduct Formal Rounds with Clients from assigned areas (ex: Nurse Managers). Record all findings, and set dates for corrective actions of deficiencies and follow-up. Make sure that all documents are forwarded to both the Client and the EVS Quality Control Manager. Establish schedules for consistent monthly meetings.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the EVS Senior Management.
  • Assist EVS Senior Management in the completion of required Employee Performance Appraisals when required. Must be able to make constructive and objective decisions when grading employees on their performance. Must also be able to create an action plan that specifically points out how employees can correct any deficiencies, and set a completion date for these plans.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalency is required.
  • He or she must be able to understand and follow written and oral communication and instructions.
  • Must be able to represent and promote Service Excellence Standards when interacting with staff, clients, and patients, and must be able to promote the goals of the Department's Mission Statement.
