Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. Ahoskie offers a moderate cost of living, a strong sense of community, and a temperate climate and location to support a variety of year round outdoor activities, such as boating, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and golf.

Position Summary

  • Maintains the integrity, safety and efficiency of the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.

  • Prepares and arranges instruments and supplies.  Assists the surgeon and assistants throughout the operation by providing sterile instruments and supplies.

  • Attends educational programs and staff orientation which promote personal and professional development.

  • Participates in Service Excellence Program.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required plus less than one year of formal training or comparable experience required.

  • Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program, Certification from a Military Program, LPN or graduated from an Accredited Nursing School or comparable on the job experience is required.

  • Substitutions that may be allowed for education and or experience: Previous employment as a Surgical Technologist for three years may substitute for the required formal education.

  • Prefer 2 years of previous experience as Surgical Technologist is preferred.

  • Certification in the field of Surgical Technologist is preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.(Required for the OR)

Other Information

  • 1 full-time position, 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday, weekend call. 

  • Call required.
