Position Summary

  • The Surgical First Assistant will support the intraoperative  surgical first assisting with all and any assigned surgical speciality teams.
  • The role will help expedite surgical productivity, provide as second assist as needed and first assist for surgeon when residents are not available.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School + 2 plus years of formal training/education is required.
  • Certification in Surgical Assistant/Surgical First Assistant is required.
  • Graduates from a CAAHEP accredited programs go on to earn their CSA/CFA
  • 2+ years of experience as a Surgical First Assistant in a hospital Operating Room setting.
  • The following certifications may be accepted:
    • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)/CSFA
    • American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)/SA-C
    • National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC) or CCI Institute/ CRNFA
