Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivery of quality care as related to personnel performance in scheduling; in particular, for maintenance on a day-to-day basis of standards of examination quality as established by the Radiologists; and efficient usage of Diagnostic Radiology sources. 
  • The major role of this position involves serving as a key resource person in the clinical area and in the overall coordination of clinical activities. The Supervisor is required to use independent judgment in overall coordination while maintaining accessibility. Direct supervision of area activities is a key component of this position.
  • Shall provide a framework for communication with the Radiologists, Manager, and Administrator. Chairman and/or Manager shall be consulted prior to implementation of procedural changes, which relate to Diagnostic Radiology studies and Departmental policies.
  • Maintaining and developing expertise in current and evolving technology as it relates to the Diagnostic Division is essential to fulfilling the duties of this position. This includes day-to-day involvement in supervision and performance of exams in area. 
  • Shall function in a supervisory capacity and attitude distinct from a Technologist capacity. In this regard, has responsibility for interpreting the actions and decision of the Managers, Administrator, and the Radiology physicians in a positive manner with the aim of promoting a cooperative and understanding attitude. The Supervisor, Diagnostic shall encourage, exemplify, and maintain a positive image of Radiology Services and the Hospital. Shall assist in evaluation, development of equipment specifications, and recommendations for capital equipment of acquisitions for Diagnostic 
  • Division submitting all pertinent data to the Manager. Shall maintain adequate technical personnel coverage for the operation of the General Diagnostic area; prepares employee performance appraisals. Recommends promotion, disciplinary and other administrative action of employees as it relates to established hospital guidelines. All departmental personnel matters shall be consistent with hospital personnel policies. Recommendations for employment and termination of employees shall be reviewed with the Manager, Diagnostic Division, Radiology Services. Responsible for carrying out policy and regularly reviewing the quality of care in conjunction with the Radiologists and Administrator of Radiology Services, making appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrates competency in the full range of procedures reflecting appropriate patient care and knowledge for patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. Demonstrates appropriate, caring behavior in the work place treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
  •  Development and maintenance of a defined orientation program for all new employees to be delivered in conjunction with Departmental Orientation via the Education Coordinator. Responsible for identifying and interfacing the components within the Diagnostic Division with the departmental Quality Assurance Program, which shall include relevance to quality of patient care (as it relates to delivery and technical quality), establishment of a safe work environment and applications of on-going Radiation Safety Program for patient and staff. May represent the Radiology Department or Hospital during periodic visits of the JCAHO. 
  • Assisting with monitoring and control of the budget shall be the responsibility of the Supervisor. Submission of Goals and Objectives as they relate to General Diagnostic Area and Hospital should compliment budgetary planning. This is to be done in consultation with the Manager. Shall provide monthly reports of the area, activities which include but are not limited to personnel matters, supply and equipment review, procedure changes, analysis of expenditure and revenue, and overall trend, as they relate to stated Goals and Objectives. Responsible for evaluation of overall matters involving Diagnostic Division, and determines if consultation with the Manager is necessary. Continual liaison is primary necessity between the Supervisor, Diagnostic and the Manager. 
  • Serve as a member of the departmental Management Advisory Committee (M.A.C.) Assists in the direction of the Diagnostic Division Quality Control Program.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 2 years or more of formal training or education.

    • Specify: AMA C.A.H.E.A. accredited program in Radiologic Technology certificate or Associate College Degree in Radiologic Technology.

  • Registration or Certification:

    • Current R.T.R. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) 

  • Minimum of four (4) years experience as a Staff Technologist

  • Full-time position-NIGHTS
