We are based at Vidant Medical Center, home of the region's only Level-1 Trauma Center and Children's Hospital.  Vidant Medical Transport is nationally recognized for safety, quality and service. Position Summary

The Communications Supervisor is directly responsible for the daily operations of the Communications Center. This position provides leadership and supervision of communication specialists and ensures excellence in customer service, competency of self and staff, and delivery of timely responsiveness to all requests including timely and appropriate communication of all transports from and to referring/receiving facilities. The supervisor will collaborate with other leadership across all service lines. The supervisor will maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies and compliance with CAMTS standards. Will support strategic initiatives of Vidant Health and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with VMT leadership team to establish policies/procedures and ensures adherance to policies for Communications Center.
  • Assures communications equipment is maintained in good working order, compliant wth FCC, and understands technical operation of the equipment
  • Has ability to function well in high stress situations with limited assistance. Must be able to make appropriate decisions that assure the safe and efficient operation of the Communication Center and transports
  • Maintains all appropriate FCC licenses in collaboration with departmental leadership
  • Maintains competency of self and performs all duties and functions as a communication specialist
  • Oversees and coordinates communications between EMS agencies, healthcare facilities, physicians, transport teams, etc.
  • Maintains compliance to all regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains compliance with CAMTS standards.
  • In collaboration with other VMT leaders: plans, selects, develops and evaluates departmental staff, provides necessary data to support manpower needs, adheres to legal and organizational requirements related to personnel management
  • Assists in collection and analysis of data to continuously improve services.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility in Communication Center and adheres to budget.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 1 - 2 years former training/education.
  • Current EMT-B or higher
  • NAACS certification desirable/preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years related work experience in a communications center or equivalent.
  • Computer and radio communications experience is required.
  • Air Medical Communications experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.

Other Information

  • Offer amount would be based on years of related experience.
  • Work schedule will be flexible -days mainly but may need to work nights weekends as needed ...
  • Will supervise approximately 13 employees.
