The James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center offers 197 beds and bassinets and an array of specialized services unequaled in eastern North Carolina. Our patient-and-family-centered care philosophy is more than a mantra; it's the guiding force of our efforts and has been for nearly 30 years. It is expressed in tangible ways throughout our recent 78,000-square-foot expansion.
Description of the Unit
A newly constructed, state of the art, 21-bed single room designed inpatient unit to encourage family bonding and privacy for the final preparations to home
A mixture of newborn and neonatal level I-II patients
One patient care team responsible for medical management of the premature infants
Team oriented staff, individual orientation to patient care over 12-16 weeks, and strong experienced staff support.
The continuation of care for neonatal patients and infants who need extended hospitalization stays who are born within the facility or transported to the facility from our 29 county service area. Average daily census is 18-20 patients with fluctuations up to 21.
Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
RN ratio 1:3-4 depending on the patient’s acuity.
Flexible electronic self-scheduling with preferred days off and vacations submitted for approval.
One Part-time position (24 hours a week) is a day/night rotation (50%), 4 weekend shifts per 6 week period, 1 major/1 minor holiday per year.
One Full -time position (36 hours a week) is a day/night rotation (50%), every other weekend, 2 major/2 minor holidays per year.
