Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (RN) for our Emergency Department!

The Emergency Deptment is a 67 bed unit and includes a state of the art 3 bay trauma resuscitation area. They provide care for primarly adults patients with a variety of emergency conditions. It is part of a Level 1 Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. They have on average 77,000 visits per year.


  • A registered nurse (RN) will deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base. 
  • A registered nurse (RN) will provide proficient, age specific, professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients in accordance with legal, hospital practice and departmental policies and procedures, established standards of nursing care and practice, and as defined by the state of  North Carolina.
  • A registered nurse (RN) will participate in Quality Improvement Activities. 
  • A registered nurse (RN) will attend educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • At least 1 year of RN experience, preferably in an emergency room setting
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.

Other Information

  • ADN hires would be expected to get BSN within 5 years.  Tuition assistance is available and ECU offers strong online curriculum.
  • Offer amounts would be based on years of RN experience
  • Current shift needs are nights (7p-7a) but ability to rotate is needed
  • Sign on bonus may be available
  • Relocation Assistance may be available
