About Vidant Medical Center

We are the only tertiary facility in eastern North Carolina designed, equipped and staffed with trained emergency pediatric providers and nurses. The services will be provided to infants, toddlers, small children, teens and young adults with an emphasis on patient-family centered care.

The Children's Emergency Department is a 16-bed unit that includes 2 Resuscitation bays. Our goal is to meet the needs of the children and their families by providing safe, child friendly, quality care and incorporating Child Life Specialists.  The physician faculty is affiliated with the Brody School of Medicine and teaches medical students, interns and resident physicians.

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • A registered nurse (RN) will deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base. 
  • A registered nurse (RN) will provide proficient, age specific, professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients in accordance with legal, hospital practice and departmental policies and procedures, established standards of nursing care and practice, and as defined by the state of  North Carolina.
  • A registered nurse (RN) will participate in Quality Improvement Activities. 
  • A registered nurse (RN) will attend educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.

  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.

  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior Peds or Emergency experience is preferred but not required.  
  • CEN or CPEN is preferred.

Other Information

  • This is a night shift position (7p-7a)
  • Offers would be based on years of RN experience.
  • ADN hires would be expected to get BSN within 5 years.  Tuition assistance is available and ECU offers strong online curriculum.
