The James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center offers 197 beds and bassinets and an array of specialized services unequaled in eastern North Carolina. Our patient-and-family-centered care philosophy is more than a mantra; it's the guiding force of our efforts and has been for nearly 30 years. It is expressed in tangible ways throughout our recent 78,000-square-foot expansion.
Dedicated to providing our patients and families with evidence based quality neonatal care through a multidisciplinary plan incorporating family-centered model of care.
Description of Unit
A newly constructed, state of the art, 50-bed pod designed neonatal inpatient unit with single rooms to encourage family bonding and privacy
A mixture of intensive and intermediate type (level III-IV) patients with 4 individual pods
Two patient care teams responsible for medical management of the infants
Team oriented staff, individual orientation to patient care over 18-22 weeks, and strong experienced staff support
The evaluation and stabilization of neonatal patients who are born within the facility or transported to the facility from our 29 county service area. Average daily census is 38 patients with fluctuations up to 50.
Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
