Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC.  The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities.  Vidant Health has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Wired healthcare organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 1 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the management of multiple key Information Services projects (any size from small to large scale) across business units throughout project life cycle by following system development lifecycle methodology (SDLC) and standard project management methodology.
 
  • Management of multiple key Information Services projects across business units including utilizing system development lifecycle methodology of the organization. Preparation of all project documentation using standard tools including development of work breakdown structure and resource estimates for all project tasks. Prepares schedule and timeline for project activities. Assigns tasks to team members and insures tasks are managed to completion. Responsible for the assignment and tracking to completion for project tasks and management of issues including tracking and resolution. Insures business analysis, design and documentation of solutions to meet the business needs of Vidant Health Information Services customers are complete and incorporated into the project plan. Establishes communication plan for project stakeholders and presents clear and timely project status and issues reports. Responsible for communicating with project team members, project sponsor and project stakeholders. Assesses, documents and proactively manages risk and ROI for projects. Creates budgets for projects assigned. Monitors, manages and reports on budget for assigned projects.
  • Develops training curriculum in project management, methodology and tools and provides leadership in class preparation and delivers training to Information Services staff. Insures tools and best practices are consistent with PMBOK standards.Understands Lean Six Sigma process assessment and engage in process evaluations and improvements to insure processes are optimized to support solutions delivered. Maintains knowledge in project management best practices and tools.
  • Participates in and/or leads Quality Improvement initiatives. Performs assessments to insure project management methodology is consistent with PMBOK standards. Assists with process assessments where Lean Six Sigma methodology may improve processes that would enhance implementation of solution(s). Performs after action reviews for completed projects and documents successes and opportunities for improvement. Assists with implementation of and incorporation of best practice improvements in project management methodology. Provides support as needed for IT governance application to insure incorporation of project management methodology

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred
  • Project Management Professional Certification required
  • 8-10 years experience in project management
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in project management methodologies and tools, and best practices such as those defined by the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of resource management and change management techniques
  • Expertise in program management and portfolio management methodologies and tools (MS Project, Visio, Excel, Changepoint, etc.)
  • Solid experience of the SDLC lifecycle and the varying application development methodologies and can apply them appropriately
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills
