Responsibilities

Directs, plans, coordinates, and organizes NP/PA process for Transplant and Surgical Services (TASS) cardiovascular inpatient units and case managed population.
  • Twenty-four hour accountability for program management and planning:
    • Maintains 24 hour accountability for NP/PA Clinical Practice and performance.
    • Development of service line infrastructure for NP/PA clinical support which optimizes role utilization of NP/PAs and promotes continuity of patient care. Collaborates with team members to focus on research and best practice opportunitiesin order to meet hospital and service line goals.
    • Initiates, monitors and/or participates in program development, implementation, evaluation and revisions which are congruent with the service line strategic plan and organizational priorities.
  • Human Resource Management and Professional Development:
    • Hires, supervises, evaluates, commends, disciplines, mentors, and supports Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants within designated CV TASS service line and CV OR. 
  • Quality:
    • Facilitates the development of the collaborative practice agreement for new designated service line NP/PAs and revisions for existing NP/PAs as indicated. 
    • Develops and implements best practice models for NP/PA practice quality outcomes and targets.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must be licensed as a registered nurse and Nurse Practitioner in the state of North Carolina or Physician Assistant Licensure in North Carolina and possess a Masters Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner or Master's in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Active NP or PA Certification. Applicant must have a minimum of two or greater years of progressively responsible experience in the cardiovascular clinical, managerial roles.
  • Two or greater years experience as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required. Two or greater years management experience in the nursing or allied health field may be substituted for management/supervisory experience. Leadership/supervisory or management experience with managing NP and/or PAs required. The applicant must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills; decision-making, problem solving, and negotiation skills; 
    counseling and teaching skills; and evidence of a participatory management style.
