Position Summary

The Service Line Coordinator is responsible for registration, charge capture, administrative support and other tasks necessary for successful operations of the assigned service lines.  Ensures that departmental processes meet the appropriate quality standards.  Acts as change agent for the department to facilitate quality improvement when opportunities are identified.


  • Retrieve mail and distribute to provider's billing/medical records/ etc.
  • Maintain and order office supplies for the Vidant Emergency Physicians and Hospitalist offices. 
  • Compile daily metrics related to ED patient volume (LWBS, AMA, LWT, etc.) and send to Risk Management.
  • Complete monthly ED and Hospitalist schedules to include but not limited to working with the VMG recruiter to obtain locum tenens coverage; making hotel reservations for PSA and locum tenens providers; monitoring Shift Admin and/or other scheduling systems; and emailing schedules to the respective Vidant North departments. 
  • Assist providers with schedule changes.
  • Enter PSA/contract providers’ worked hours onto timesheet; prepare check requests; and send to Accounting for processing. 
  • Assist with maintaining provider credentialing files. 
  • Assist with obtaining information/signatures needed for other patient forms. 
  • Assist with communication to providers related to incomplete documentation, unsigned orders, etc. for the purposes of billing and coding. 
  • Record and maintain minutes for ED and Hospitalist provider meetings.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and taking calls for the ED and Hospitalist Medical Directors and the Administrator, Regional Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires High School Graduate or equivalent plus 1-2 years of formal training or education.
  • Requires at least one year of work experience in a healthcare institution, physician office, clinic or related.  Advanced computer knowledge is essential.
