Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

The Data Architect is responsible for designing and implementing the data architecture for Vidant Health’s next generation Data Ecosystem. Specifically, this includes being responsible for developing normalized, dimensional, and hybrid data models to support reporting, analytics, and APIs used by other internal and external applications.

Responsibilities

The Data Architect will serve as the primary data modeler and provide oversight of the following areas:   

  • Data Ingestion- moving source system data to a unified data lake

  • Data Modeling - determining field-level data usage

  • Data Wrangling - identifying queries/algorithms to efficiently transform data from source system formats to a unified RDBMS schema

  • Data Quality - ensuring complete and uninterrupted data mappings from source to canonical form

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors required

  • One or more of the following certification required; Epic Clarity, Microsoft Data Management and Analytics, BI Development, Database Development, or Informatica.

  • Masters Degree Preferred

  • 7+ years experience in an ETL administration or ETL/application development environment

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following areas including 5 or more years of experience; ETL principles, Epic Clarity console, Epic Compass, Epic Clarity execution management, Epic Clarity data structures, Epic Cogito, Epic Universes, Epic Cubes, Epic Registries, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, or Informatica technology stack

  • Exhibits proficient in both SSIS or Informatica ETL tools

  • 3+ years applicable experience in the Healthcare / Health domain, or Insurance with good understanding of HIPAA data Privacy and Security requirements

Preferred Requirements

  • SQL Server development – T-SQL/stored procedures
  • Microsoft SSIS or Informatica Power Center ETL programming
  • 2+ years in Healthcare
  • Epic Caboodle 1+ years
  • SME on 2 or more Epic data Clarity models SAS administration or development experience
  • Hands on experience with the Epic Clarity supplied cubes, Excel spreadsheets, or Business Objects universes
  • Epic Clarity or Epic Data warehouse certification
  • Informatica Power Center
  • Informatica Analyst and or IDQ
  • Oracle SQL, PL/SQL
  • Data modeling
  • ER/Studio
  • Familiarity with the data vault methodology
