Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC.   • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately with staff of varied skill levels and expertise.
  • Maintain files on all vendors including vendor contact phone numbers and addresses.
  • Appropriately utilize PeopleSoft for invoices and purchase orders.
  • Maintains familiarity with all contracts.
  • Places orders as required.
  • Responsible for validating, pricing and checking in the inventory received in Plant Operations.
  • Responsible for all invoices and their timely submission to accounting.
  • As a Facility Services representative, is polite and professional in dealing with other hospital departments and staff in the procuring of work order and other request, etc.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills.
  • Communicates with the Supervisor/Director regarding status of work.
  • Maintains all the office documents and maintains an effective filing system.
  • Participates in disaster/emergency drills as required, responds to emergencies throughout the hospital as directed.
  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper hand washing per infection control policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient/customer/vendor  information.
  • Uses department “scripts” to effectively communicate with other departments, patients, families, coworkers and students in person or over the phone.
  • Demonstrates safe operation of  equipment in compliance with department policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards.
  • As directed by the supervisor may have additional responsibility as preceptor for students and/or new employees.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills for email, researching, ordering and report functions.
  • Participates in Inservice Education, and obtains education contact hours.
  • Actively participates on Action Team of own choosing 

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Basic Computer Skills  

Preferred Requirements

  • Associated Degree preferred.
  • Hospital Experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three years Administrative secretarial experience  

Other Information

  • 1 full time vacancy available- 32 hours per week- day shift,  Monday-Friday.
  • Pay range $8.80-$14.08 per hour.  Actual rate depends on experience
