Responsibilities

  • Creates a professional image for the practice by the way they greet patients and visitors in person and by phone.
  • Answers the telephone and screens incoming calls, taking messages as necessary.
  • Obtains necessary information upon patient registration and updating the computer system and patient chart with changes.
  • Maintains a filing system for patient charts as they pull and file charts daily for appointments, phone calls, and medical documentation/notes.
  • Enters patient charges, including billing codes, payments, and appointments in the computer. 
  • Balances the daily reports and make the bank deposit daily.
  • Obtains patient signatures for records requests, and authorization for treatment.
  • Obtains authorizations and referrals from managed care groups when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Employee must have a high school diploma or GED, and able to communicate effectively.
  • Minimum two years of medical office experience.
  • They must have the ability to use a computer, printer, copy machine, fax, and calculator efficiently.
  • This employee must have the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
  • They must deal with a variety of people and stressful situations.

Other Information

  • Monday - Friday, shifts alternate early or later, 7:30 am -5:30 pm.
  • 36 hours per week.
