Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Position Summary

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established polices and procedures. Use professional nursing judgement to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervises the activities of unlicensed care providers. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources. Leads/guides licensed practical nurses, nurse aides and ancillary associates in the delivery of patient care. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Requirements

  • Accredited Nursing Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
  • Must have current or compact licensure as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina

Other Information

  • The shifts will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondary thru Friday
  • As needed
  • Requires at  least two years of experience in acute patient care setting
  • No benefits
  • Requires 12 hours be scheduled per six weeks schedule wihtin identified hours of unit  need
