  • Performs all the duties of a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient and delegates staff assignments appropriate to the patient needs and workload. 
  • In addition to those duties, the shift (team) Supervisor: Holds staff accountable for following policies and procedures of the department. Oversees the quality of Respiratory Care procedures and assessments. Completes or oversees completion of staff competency records. Develops and conducts 6 month, yearly and special performance appraisals of supervised staff. Provides leadership and support while fostering effective communications in meeting patient needs. Precepts new employees and students or designates appropriate staff to oversee orientation,  development. Maintains activity files (samples of work, time and attendance, licensure dates, certification, etc) of staff under direct supervision. 
  • Liaison to other clinical departments as needed. Insures that the department meets standards set forth by accrediting agencies as it relates to individuals under direct supervision and promotes continuous quality improvements. Remains current on the advances of clinical and managerial practice and recommends changes or additions to department policy and procedure.
  • Resolves interdepartmental problems with equipment or personnel. Assists with inventory control. Provides written &/or verbally reports to the Manager of Respiratory Care each shift. Works within department budget and promotes cost-effective operating ideas. Participates in development of department "goals and objectives" and completes area of responsibility. May assume additional responsibilities as designated by the Manager or Assistant Manager of Respiratory Care.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree or Bachelors degree in Respiratory Therapy or rleated science required.
  • Three years clinical experience as Registered Respiratory Therapist required.
  • Active License by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board required.
  • Current Certification in BLS.
  • Current Certification in Advanced Airway Skill (minimum of one current certificate in ACLS, PALS or NRP).
  • Active status with NBRC. Active Member of AARC.

  • Full-time, hours: 7:00pm - 7:00am
