Responsibilities

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director of Cardiopulmonary and overall supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Manager. The practitioner is a highly skilled employee who provides safe, expedient, and cost effective cardiopulmonary services. Responsible for developing and maintaining a positive and effective relationship with all hospital departments, employees, medical staff, and patients families. They are responsible for competent performance in all respiratory and cardiac procedures on patients of all ages with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders. Practitioners are involved in patient evaluation, treatment selection, assessment of treatment efficiency and patient education. They are required to bill and document the care they provide in the computer system. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Employee must be a graduate of an accredited school, licensed by the State of North Carolina, credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care NBRC and maintain a current Respiratory Care Practitioner license with the North Carolina Board of Respiratory Care NCBRC.
  • He or she must be able to communicate effectively verbally and written. He or She must have the ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate the care and treatment delivered to patients of all ages.
  • The practitioner must be certified in CPR for infants, pediatrics and adults and must be certified in NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
  • Other preferred certification includes Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS and Advanced Adult Life Support ACLS. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Minimum two years inpatient treatment experience.

  • Shifts and days will vary dependant on need of department.
