Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.


Position Summary

As a member of a team of health care professionals, the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) evaluates, treats and manages therapeutic respiratory care of patients of all ages as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Respiratory Care Practitioners demonstrate flexibility, knowledge and dedication in all patient care and safety matters. In addition to performing respiratory care procedures, the RCP is involved in clinical decision making, goal directed respiratory care planning and patient education. The RCP is required to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources, document in the electronic medical record and are responsible for billing for services provided.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Care or Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care.
  • Must have current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of North Carolina by the NCRBC with active NBRC credentials.
  • Must be RRT.
  • BLS
  • ACLS

Preferred Requirements

  • NRP
  • PALS
  • All new hires who are registry eligible will be expected to take/pass the RRT credentialing exam within 12 months of hire date.

Other Information

  • Full-time position with benefits
  • 12 hour rotations
  • 7 pm-7 am
  • 3- 12 hour night shifts Monday thru Thursday
  • Rotating weekend nights as needed for vacation coverage
