Responsibilities

  • Completes all necessary information files in the computer to process insurance claims and patient statements.
     
  • Enters charges from coded/scanned encounter forms and/or charge sheets into the A/R system.
     
  • Handles telephone inquires from insurance companies and patients professionally, timely and accurately.
     
  • Research, correct and resubmit all insurance denials.
     
  • Verify claim status from insurance companies on all claims over 60 days.
     
  • Handle all necessary adjustments to patient accounts including insurance and administrative write-offs.
     
  • Make recommendations on past due accounts regarding collection agency action, financial hardship, payment
    arrangements or bad debt write off.
     
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation in PRISM on all adjustments and correspondence on accounts.
     
  • Post monies into accounts from insurance and private pay patients accurately and timely.
     
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
    Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate required. Must have minimum of 2 years medical office experience performing computerized billing to include working knowledge of medical terminology, high degree of organization and attention to detail and accuracy.
