Ambulatory Radiology Unit and Position Summary

The Ambulatory Radiology nurse supports adult patient care by providing pre and post-procedure care for radiology invasive procedures for CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Diagnostics and Vascular Interventional Radiology. The nurse teaches and guides patients in self-care activities and in helping making informed healthcare decisions

 Responsibilities

  • Perform review of patient’s order, EMR (history and physical, lab results, clinical studies such as ultrasound, CT scans, X-ray results) prior to procedure. Nurse will notify MD or appropriate Provider of abnormalities and safety concerns. The ARU nurse will prepare the patient for the study or exam and notify the various radiology modalities of patient’s readiness. Post-procedure the nurse will monitor the patient to meet discharge criteria and if appropriate discharge the patient per MD order.

Minimum Requirements   

  • ADN required, BSN preferred. Current NC RN licensure required.
  • Three years as RN in an acute care setting with excellent IV skills highly recommended.
  • ACLS Certification

Other Information

  • Full-time position - This position will work in ARU and Radiology.

  • Schedule for ARU is Two -  8 hour shifts  & Two - 12 hour shifts and for Radiology nursing will work 10 hour shifts. NO weekends, NO holidays and NO call.
