Registered Nurse - Observation Unit  - Full-time - Days 7a-7p 

About the Unit

The Observation unit is a 12 bed monitored unit. The primary patient population includes those with chest pain requiring evaluation and intervention, short-term emergency patients requiring further observation, and renal donors and recipients for work up and perioperative preparation. The average length of stay is less than 24 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base. 
  • To provide proficient, age specific, professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients in accordance with legal, hospital practice and departmental policies and procedures, established standards of nursing care and practice, and as defined by the state of  North Carolina.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement Activities. 
  • Attends educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.

  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.

Preferred Requirements

  • BSN preferred
  • ACLS preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • At least 2 years of med/surg clinical experience

Other Information

  • Full-time (36 hours) 7:00am to 7:00pm
